The Intimate Marriage Podcast with Alexandra Stockwell, MD

Do you want to deepen your understanding of your relationship? Access new heights of emotional, sensual, and erotic intimacy?
Is your marriage really great, and you’re wondering what more is possible for you? Are you feeling stuck in a rut and can’t seem to find your way back to one another? If you want your relationship to feel truly amazing, join Alexandra Stockwell, MD, physician, and Intimate Marriage Expert every week, as she shares the secrets to creating and sustaining a deep, meaningful, and passionate marriage.

In this episode of The Intimate Marriage Podcast, Alexandra Stockwell, MD explores the foundation of a fulfilling marriage beyond love, starting from the historical evolution of marriage as an exchange of property to the modern era of marrying for love.

The episode features the personal story of the host’s marriage and the example of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett’s relationship. The couple’s focus on unconditional support and not letting marriage become a prison led them to decide to become not monogamous. In contrast, another couple’s exploration of what the right way for them to interact as a couple led them to move from the city to a farm and found a retreat center. While financial convenience, cultural similarities, and having children may bring people together initially, they are not enough to create a dynamic, intimate, fulfilling, and passionate marriage. The mutual commitment to individual and shared growth creates the foundation for a dynamic and intimate marriage. However, the desire to marry for love and the capacity to live in a marriage for love do not always match up, and we need to be clear about the foundation and context of our relationship.

Also in this episode:

  • Change is natural and should be embraced
  • Keeping up with changes in life keeps people growing and evolving
  • The same body doesn’t mean that the relationship is the same
  • Communication and understanding each other’s needs are important
  • Trying new things in the bedroom keeps things exciting
  • Regularly working on the relationship helps to maintain the passion
  • A strong emotional connection is necessary for a passionate relationship
  • Passionate relationships require effort and intentionality
  • Couples should be willing to be vulnerable with each other
