For me, Alexandra's Holiday Coaching Program met me at one of the lowest moments I was going through as a woman. Through the Pandemic I had gone through watching two kids with all life support systems cut off- school, childcare, playdates where I'd get emotional support from other moms, family AND I had my spouse working from home now with no personal space and time whatsoever.
The program was such a refreshing and beautiful time I GOT to spend with Alexandra and other women where I gave myself permission to look into ME. Not only did the program help me then, but its effects in my life are still reverberating today. Since the program ended last 10 months ago, I've been letting go of minute things in my life that I had placed disproportionate importance to (i.e. how my meals looked or amount of TV my child watched) and prioritizing things that actually brought me joy and nurtured my family life (i.e. spending 20 minutes at the end of the day with my husband alone reading a chapter of the Bible and talking, or cuddling with my child without hurrying myself to the dishes to be washed).
Taking Alexandra's course was really just a beginning point of a journey I'm still on, and I am so very appreciative of the choices I'm able to make because of the epiphanies I've had in my conversation with her and other women in that course.
The program provided an anchor for me. Whatever your worldview, the holiday season is life on steroids, when family dynamics, expectations of self and others, and the overwhelming influence of our culture often obliterate the self.
Conversation with Alexandra and this lovely group of women directed me to ask the question, "What do I want?" Often, this happened as we explored situations shared by individual members of the group, brainstormed ways to overcome challenges or simply life from a different vantage point.
This brought me to the kind of reflection that GETS you somewhere -- moments of revelation that impact everyday life right away. I'm sure the people in my life appreciated the happy, balanced, healthy self I brought to the holiday season, too.
Another benefit was the energy I absorbed by connecting with a diverse group of women. The format overcame the limitations of time and space. With Alexandra's gracious and thoughtful moderation, our group of 10 embarked on a conversation that created common ground from different spiritual traditions, stages of life, and international boundaries. I was inspired by the stories of women who are so different than me, but also just like me.
I felt safe, valued, affirmed, and celebrated. And inspired. Instead of "barely making it through" the holiday season, I emerged with a fresh sense of hope and purpose.
