Demystifying Intimacy:

A Roadmap for Motivated, Successful Couples

When you want to feel closer to your partner, what do you do to make that happen? Most of us aim for a grand gesture, but that doesn’t work. Genuine closeness is built in more nuanced ways, without drama, and in the next hour I’ll show you how to do it.

INSTANT ACCESS  |  60 MINUTES  |  WATCH ANYTIME

The average couple spends less than

4 minutes a day

talking about anything other than logistics.

Four minutes. Every other conversation is about the calendar, the kids, the groceries, the dog. You can love someone deeply and still spend years beside them without feeling truly connected.

Neither of you did anything wrong.

You were simply never shown how closeness actually works.

Do any of these sound familiar?

From the outside your relationship looks good, inside it feels flat, (and you try deny it, even to yourself)

If you recognize yourself here, you’re in good company. And you’re far from stuck. This is the exact shift I teach couples to make, and it happens faster than you’d expect.

Why the grand gesture never works

When people want more intimacy, they reach for something big: a weekend away, an expensive dinner, a meaningful gift. It feels great in the moment, but once you’re home, the feeling rarely lasts.

The grand gesture

A spike of warmth that fades within days.

physical intimacy

Small, repeatable moments

Ordinary interactions that build closeness over time.

When people want more intimacy, they reach for something big.

A weekend away, an expensive dinner,

a meaningful gift.

It feels great in the moment, but once you’re home, the feeling rarely lasts. That’s because closeness isn’t fueled by grand gestures, and intimacy never happens spontaneously, just because you love one another.

What actually creates a marriage that’s nourishing and intimate are small, repeatable, everyday moments. Intimacy is a skill, and you create it on purpose, in the ordinary moments that pass you by without any fanfare. Acknowledging these opportunities for connection is essential. I call it choosing intimacy. This workshop is the roadmap: practical and completely learnable, what has felt like guesswork will finally make sense.

What you'll walk away with:

In about an hour, I’ll describe the three places where intimacy actually lives, and how to bring each one home.

Intimacy fades

Understand why intimacy fades even in loving marriages, so you can stop wondering what you've done wrong.

Logistics that connect

Make everyday communication, even conversations about logistics, an opportunity to feel close instead of drained.

Get curious

Use curiosity to get to know another, so you both feel truly seen again. This is about asking the right questions, and listening generously.

Erotic energy

Bring it back into ordinary life so your interactions don't feel dehydrated and bland.

Choosing, not waiting

Stop waiting for intimacy to reappear and start choosing it in the interactions you already have.

Feel different tonight

Begin on your own or with your partner. It's totally up to you.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

For the competent ones who feel stumped in marriage

This is for you...

if you’ve built a good life with someone you love and you’re quietly (or not so quietly) yearning for more aliveness and intimacy in your relationship. You’re capable. You handle hard things well. You’ve read a few books about relationships but they haven’t been helpful. This one corner of life is frustrating because it just hasn’t responded when you apply the skills that work everywhere else.

This is NOT for...

anyone hoping for a quick trick, but unwilling to invest some effort to create different results. It’s not a guide to fix what’s wrong with your partner. You won’t have to suppress yourself or become someone you’re not. I want you feeling wild with a white picket fence: fully alive, fully yourself, in the real life you already have.

fully yourself,

ABOUT ALEXANDRA

I didn't have it all figured out

I’m Alexandra Stockwell, MD. I trained as a physician, and now I’m a Relationship and Intimacy Coach. I teach motivated, successful couples how to feel close again, the kind of close that holds up in real life, alongside all your tasks and responsibilities and other considerations.

When I got married, I assumed we’d divorce. We loved each other. But my parents had divorced, his parents had divorced, and I had no picture of what a lasting, connected marriage looks like.

In medical school, with a baby and two impossible schedules, my husband and I met every Sunday night to plan the week down to the hour. Pure logistics. Years later, when life finally eased up, I expected the closeness to come back on its own. It didn’t.

That’s when I understood. Time and love and compatibility were never going to be enough. What made those Sunday night logistics conversations work was how we showed up in them: honest, paying attention, and turning toward each other. The moment I started bringing that into ordinary days, my marriage changed. Three decades in, it’s more alive than I believed was possible, and everything I teach grows out of that.

What a small shift can do

A woman came to a talk I gave. Married thirty-two years, she thought her marriage was great and only came for the session after mine. That night she asked her husband a few genuine questions. Three days later she emailed to say they felt closer than they had in years.

Her marriage was already good. She slowed down and got curious.

I call that choosing intimacy.

THE COST OF "FINE"

The danger and disillusionment of a "good enough" marriage.

Things rarely get bad enough to force a change, so you continue to tolerate them. A year passes, then five, then twenty. The disconnection doesn’t announce itself. But it grows, one overlooked moment at a time, until one day you’re two people who share an address, a calendar, history, but not much else.

This doesn’t need to be your story.

You don’t have to let that happen.

The next hour can change the direction you’re heading.

Before you watch.

Begin on your own. When one person changes how they show up, the whole relationship benefits. This workshop is designed for individuals in committed relationships.

It’s ideal for you. The best time to learn new skills is before anything’s wrong, while there’s plenty of warmth to build on.

That’s the whole point. Everything I teach fits inside the life you already live. No hour-a-day homework, no program to finish. It’s about upleveling the interactions happening anyway.

It will be more fun than you expect. I start with small shifts, inside conversations you’re already having.

YOUR NEXT MOMENT

Choose intimacy, starting tonight.

You don’t have to wait for a crisis, and you don’t have to wait for your partner to be ready. Sharing a life with the person you love is enough to begin.

Intimacy isn’t a mood you wait around for. It’s a choice you make, inside the moment you’re already in.
